‘Diary of a Side Chick Makhwapheni’ is a book series by Limpopo born author, Lesego Maake.

The book series started out a blog series and has been viewed over a hundred million times since it started in 2014.

‘Diary of a Side Chick Makhwapheni’ takes us through a life journey of Sharon Letsoalo. Besides dating and sleeping with men of other women, the wind of the city forces Sharon’s life to often sail close to danger.

Lesego Maake started this fictional blog story in 2014. “Unexpectedly, episode by episode, the blog stories started attracting thousands of readers through Facebook. 100 million views later, 450-plus episodes in, the ‘Diary of a Side Chick Makhwapheni’ series has loyal fans here in South Africa all the way to Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, United Kingdom, Lesotho and the USA” – says Lesego.

Besides the series having a great following, and its raunchiness, Lesego Maake has had some interesting encounters as the author of the series. Several Facebook pages of the series were deleted by Facebook. Fans have confided in him about similar incidents – often dangerous – that the main character Sharon Letsoalo experienced.

Born and raised in Limpopo, Sharon Letsoalo makes it to the golden province of Gauteng to pursue her academic ambitions like most young people from rural areas. The lights of Gauteng dribble and turn her into what her mother never raised her to be.

The author – Lesego Lucky Maake – was born in Ga-Kgapane outside Tzaneen in 1985. He is the first of three children. He developed his love for reading and writing while in primary school. Lesego has written other blog stories that have amassed millions in views: My Rich Nigerian Boo, Marriage on the Rox, and, Chronicles of a Playa – Rhulani Chauke.
