25 year old Awonke’s self-published grade 11 And 12 maths study guide hits bookstores
Bula Buka announces the availability of the self-published study guide, ‘Mathematics with Nqayiya,’ in South African bookstores nationwide.
It was written by 25-year-old Awonke Nqayiya, a maths tutor and Masters major in Mathematical Statistics at Nelson Mandela University.
The guide has received a lot of praise from learners, tutors, teachers, academia and media across South Africa.
It is now at Exclusive Books, Bargain Books, Van Schaik, Protea Books and many others.
“I had no hope in mathematics this year. But now the study guide has changed my negative opinions and views against maths. The guide is honestly amazing. I love it,” – Katleho (Grade 11 learner, Limpopo).
“It is easy to follow and provides all the fundamental basics needed for each topic. It is a game-changer for us as maths teachers!” – Asaduma (Teacher, Eastern Cape).
In 2021, the study guide won Awonke two awards for being of service to others and youth empowerment through education.
The first award was by Raising Legends, for, first place in the category of Innovators. The second award was presented to Awonke by Junior Chamber International South Africa, for being part of the Top Ten 10 Outstanding Young Persons of South Africa.
He had the following to say about the study guide: “Mathematics is perceived as one of the most challenging subjects. This perception imposes the need for user-friendly study guides. This is one of the objectives I had as I was compiling this learner study guide.”
“It is a two-in-one guide for Mathematics paper two for both Grade 11 and Grade 12 learners. It offers simplicity in four Mathematics chapters, namely: Statistics, Analytical Geometry, Trigonometry, and Euclidean Geometry”
Awonke holds a bachelor’s degree (Cum Laude) in Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics at Nelson Mandela University.
He matriculated with distinctions in several subjects including mathematics at Gobe Commercial High School in Eastern Cape in 2014.
Away from his master’s research, he devotes his time to teaching Mathematics to high school learners.
